Small Guy Technology was created to provide
organizations a method to receive consulting services and service their
technical needs at a cost much less than those of large information technology
firms. Small Guy Technology has a very low overhead, which allows the ownership
to pass on considerable savings to the customer.

SKILLS AND OFFERINGS
Over
the past 24 years Tim Steele has filled many roles in the information
technology industry and has amassed a long list of professional and personal
accomplishments. His company goal is to use this experience in aiding
businesses to achieve high-performance operations with high reliability and
functionality to allow his customer’s technical systems aid in the daily
operations of the business to allow them to compete in their competitive
market.
Director of Information Systems
Tim’s
experience as a Director of Information Systems allowed for him to fully
understand the needs of the various business units and devise plans to allow
those business units to meet their technical needs. During Tim’s tenure as a director
he was responsible for modernized a publishing company with only 10 stand-alone
computers to a network of high reliability systems that included over 55 file
servers and other networking components; this included incorporating a remote
sales office as well as a Disaster Recovery location using the Internet and VPN
technology. Tim was responsible for developing a staff of helpdesk personnel,
trainers, technicians, programmers, and system managers. Tim integrated systems
that included Unix, Apple Macintosh, Windows 9x and XP, Windows NT, Windows
2000, and Windows 2003, CISCO routers, CISCO firewalls, CISCO switches, and
wireless networks. Implemented redundant systems for all mission critical
applications to prevent downtime. Developed structured training programs to
ensure users were proficient using the tools necessary to perform their daily
duties. Wrote custom applications
to improve proficiency, reduce costs, and eliminate the need for outsourcing.
Implemented corporate communications system including Lotus Notes groupware
applications, Internet/Intranet email, and remote communications for users
worldwide.
Infrastructure Management and Systems Analysis
During Tim’s tenure as an
infrastructure manager he was responsible for overseeing all hardware and
software components of a retail company. The duties and accomplishments
included redesigning the network infrastructure to replace aging equipment, add
redundancy, and improve security and performance. He installed the
organization’s helpdesk application and trained management and staff in
managing ITIL change. Tim was also responsible for evaluating currently
installed technologies, recommend and implement changes to eliminate downtime
and improve IS/User relations, optimized and secured network systems, wrote
system documentation.
Tim also recommended and
installed email gateways to provide front-end SPAM and Virus checking. Tim also
was instrumental in moving the corporate Internet site off to a third-party
solution that allowed the company to achieve a greater presence and allow for
addition functionalities to the company’s consumers.
Project Management
Small Guy Technology can aid
organizations in project management by providing the skills necessary to plan,
design, implement, and control all aspects of the project management and system
development process. This includes reviewing current systems and making
recommendations, find alternatives, work with outside vendor, schedule
resources, and provide management with project progress reporting.
Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL)
Tim posses a certification in
ITIL that will allow Small Guy Technology to recommend and provide system “best
practices” to an organization. These best practices include the introduction
and or optimization of the company’s helpdesk, incident management, problem
management, change management, and development of configuration databases.
Professional Training
Small Guy Technology can provide professional
application and system training a company’s personnel. Productivity can be lost
when employees lack the knowledge to take full advantage of the tools at their
disposal. Tim Steele has many years of training experience and course
development as he was a technical instructor for the U.S. Air Force and taught
college level courses, all in addition to developing and performing training as
an information technology specialist.
